My knit has pilling, help!

Pilling

Pilling is a challenging part in the equation with merino wool as there is a crucial trade-off — the softer the fibre and the more lofty and luxurious the knit, the more the garment is prone to pilling, especially in areas that are more prone to rubbing against other fabrics or prone to friction.

The good news on pilling is that it is totally normal and with some gentle maintenance, it can relatively easily be removed and reduced.

When pilling occurs on our more lofty and luxurious knits we recommend using a fabric shaver to remove the surface pilling as the combs provided and are less effective on loftier knits.

Once the fabric shaver is used a couple of times, whenever light pilling starts to appear on the most outer layer of the fabric, pilling usually significantly reduces and all you need is the occasional whizz-over.

There’s a great Youtube video here on how to remove pilling.
