BOOK YOUR REPAIRFAQs
How does it work?
When you visit The Seam, you’ll be asked to fill in a repair form and tell us about your item and its damage. This service is currently only available to our UK customers. The Seam will approve your repair booking within 48 hours and the next step is to post your item to be repaired. Once The Seam Maker receives your item, they will repair the damage within 2 - 4 weeks, and return your item to you by post.
Should I wash my knit before sending?
Yes please! It's important that we receive jumpers in clean condition to be repaired. If we receive your knit in an unclean condition, we may be unable to complete the repair for you.
If you're unsure how to prepare your jumper for sending, please check the care instructions on the inside label.
What kinds of repairs are possible?
The Seam restores all kinds of damage common to knitwear, including moth holes, snagged yarns, underarm holes, cuff and collar damage, and much more. If you’re unsure that your item can be repaired, please get in touch with us at support@theseam.uk.
What will my repair look like?
Repairs range from discreet / invisible to more visible woven darning technique dependent on the degree of damage.
Depending on the type of damage to your item, we may be able to discreetly repair your knitwear and hide the initial damage. This is typically the case for snagged yarns, ladders, and holes in seams.
For more complex repairs including holes and moth damage, we will use a yarn in a similar shade to repair your item, but the colour may not exactly match and so the repair may be visible.
To get an idea of the possibilities for repair, check out the gallery below.
What does the project cost?
All Sheep Inc. repairs are free of charge, and you will only need to cover the cost of posting your item to The Seam.
How do I post my item?
You will need to cover the cost of posting your item to The Seam. This service is currently only available to our UK customers. Once we approve your booking, we will share posting details with you. We recommend that you use Royal Mail Tracked 24 hour delivery service. Please keep in mind that we are unable to take responsibility for any parcel until it is delivered to The Seam.
How long will the repair service take?
Once we receive your item, it will be repaired and posted back to you within 2 - 4 weeks. Exceptions may apply for very complex repairs, and in cases where we need to get in touch with you to discuss possibilities for repair.
I live outside of the UK, can I use this service?
Currently, our partnership with The Seam is only available to our UK customers. We hope that we can launch this service worldwide in the future, but there are a few details we need to iron out first. For International customers, please select the country you are shopping from in the bottom right-hand corner of the page and you will be directed to our International Knit Clinic.
